Frequently Asked Questions

To become a Freemason, you must take the first step yourself. Ideally, through your life, actions, and mindset, you will consistently meet the necessary qualities. In such a case, it is natural that sooner or later the path of your life will intersect with the Order of Freemasons.

Another option is to “knock on the door” of one of the lodges. The easiest way is to choose a lodge, closest to your permanent residence and submit a contact request via the form. More information can be found in the article “How to Become a Member”

Through mutual meetings, discussions, and focused joint works conducted according to formal procedures, man’s human potential is cultivated.

There are as many answers to this question as there are Freemasons. However, they all share several common elements: humanity, a sense of belonging to a shared work, compassion, respect for the Order, and persistent work on oneself guided by the system of morality, veiled in allegory and illustrated by symbols. Each Freemason ultimately forms the main principle for himself. If, however, his work on himself is sincere, he will arrive at the same essence: to be a brother to his brothers, to be a pillar of his community, and to steadfastly uphold his moral beacon, which he accepted as his own on the day of his initiation into the Order. More about the symbols can be found here.

This is covered in more detail in the article “How to Become a Member”

The lodge is a close circle of Brothers who meet regularly to conduct ritual Work. This is a specific and profound activity that brings the Brothers together strongly, and friendships often develop among them even outside the Masonic context. A lodge is a living organism, requiring care and active contribution from each member, which is why Brothers dedicate significant portions of their time to its operation and development.

Since there are many lodges, they are united under a common service and organizational structure called an Obedience. In the Czech context this takes the form of the Grand Lodge, the highest authority of the Order, which ensures administrative unity, a continuity of tradition, management of the rituals, and external representation of the Order. Work for the lodge and for the Grand Lodge is closely interconnected and gradually becomes a natural part of every Brother’s life.

The service, responsibility, and continuous work on both one’s own and the collective “stone” supports personal growth, cultivation, and inner elevation. Brothers naturally come to behave and act in a manner that is constructive for society – cultured, courteous, factual, and friendly, often at a very high social level.
